Guest Reviews

We often look to stay in "old fashion", family managed properties. The Retro Inn totally fulfilled our expectations. Comfortable rooms with the necessary amenities with fun-filled decor made this place a great place to stay. Breakfast selections were plentiful, and our hosts were quite willing to share recomendations. Overall, a great two-night stay.

This place was an absolute joy for us. We came into Cortez on Memorial Day weekend. Someone else had double booked a room so we were super lucky to stay here. The staff is great the rooms super clean. We ended up staying 6 nights!

This place is amazing!! The clubhouse is SO fun and the breakfast has so many options. If you’re ever in town, passing through this place will not disappoint!! Also, request the 70’s room or Great Gatsby room if available. Super fun!

Lovely funky little retro motel in small town Colorado. Owners are delightful.
We stayed in the John Wayne room tastefully decorated in 60’s era style adorned with John Wayne memerobilia.
. Room was very clean and the beds comfortable..
Lots of neat stuff to enjoy. The hot burrito breakfast filled us up for the last leg of our journey. Stay here if you can particularly if you are a retro music or movie fan.

As a solo traveler, I look for an affordable place that is safe. The Retro Inn met all criteria for friendliness, cleanliness and safety. I stayed in 1950 because it had more space. It is closest to the road so it was a bit noisy. So if you want quiet, stay in rooms towards the back. 1950 room did not have carpet which I loved due to my allergies. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I hear the summer months are super busy and fully booked with travelers from all over the globe so book early! The owners are building a club house with video games and other fun things. I’ll be back for sure!

We loved the Retro Hotel from the Year themed rooms, the awesome complimentary breakfast in the stylish diner, the bench seat with the King and the caravan. It's clear a lot of attention to detail has been paid and continues to be as guest facilities are improved. 'For a child of the 70's and 80's it was a perfect overnight stay.

Clean room, comfortable beds, good water pressure, reasonable rate and good breakfast. Appreciated the ease and convenience of parking lot space right in front of room. Staff very helpful, even to the extent of quickly mailing forgotten item to us.

A fun and dog-friendly place. Staff is delightful, room is clean and comfy. Photo shows the surprising mix of retro colors in our "1952" room and modern technology. A respectable continental (and more) breakfast. Lawn, trees and outdoor tables.

Once again this motel is the kind I like. You can pull up and park at your door. Makes it easy to unload your travel supplies and luggage. The lady at check-in was very nice and the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We were 10AM getting out so we got to meet Michelle the housekeeper and I want her employers to know how friendly and welcoming she was to my wife and me.

I'm glad I booked this place for our one night in Cortez. Rooms are small but very clean with comfortable beds and only twelve miles from Mesa Verde. Each room pays homage to a musician or actor/actress from the 50's, 60's or 70's. Our room was dedicated to Janis Joplin. I liked that there were two chairs and a table in front of each room with a tin can ash tray for smokers. We would definitely stay here again.

Discover breathtaking Mesa Verde country

Take time to explore the ancient cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park, or walk along quiet trails to see ruins and dwellings at Hovenweep National Monument. Hiking or biking at Canyon of the Ancients offers a good mix of climbs and downhill trails.  Don't forget to visit Mancos State Park where you can go fishing, boating, canoeing, rafting or kayaking. Enjoy Whitewater rafting or zipline through the tree tops at Animas River.
